In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, and for the safety of our patients and our staff, we are exercising several cautionary measures. Please take note of the following:
1- Our office currently remains open but with very limited hours. Our Schedule for June 4, 2020 is fully booked now. The next tentative date that Dr. Tirgan will see patients in the office is Thursday, June 11, 2020. To book an appointment, you must contact Dr. Tirgan via email.
2- All new patient consultations will be done by phone before you arrive at the office for treatment.
3- If you are not feeling well, or have a fever or cough, please reschedule your appointment. We will not be able to provide service to anyone who may even have a mild cold.
4- We have extended the appointment times to 30 minutes for each patient. This will prevent overcrowding in our office. Please try to arrive just on time for your appointment.
5- To protect everyone, we do not shake hands anymore and maintain distance.
6- Our staff will be wearing masks and gloves in working with you.
2-Please also email several images of your keloids, taken in good lighting, and from different angles to DrTirgan@gmail.com.
Please make sure to provide accurate responses to each question and provide a valid e-mail address. The information you provide will allow Dr. Tirgan to better assess your condition and provide you with a treatment plan and the associated cost estimate if you will be coming in for an in-person visit. All information submitted through this website is secure and remains confidential.
Patient care starts with a thorough consultation. During your initial meeting, Dr. Tirgan examines your keloids, reviews the history of your disorder, your prior treatments, and the results of these treatments. He also takes time to answer all of your questions. Afterward, he provides you with his recommended treatment plan. The duration of the consultation is usually 20 minutes. However, in complex cases, it may last much longer.
Cost of Consultation
The initial consultation fee, in person or via telemedicine is $250. Unfortunately, most insurance companies consider keloids as cosmetic problems and do not pay for the treatment of keloids. As a result, we cannot accept any form of insurance.
Cost of Treatment?
The number and type of treatments vary from patient to patient. Unfortunately, there is no way to predict the total cost. Size, shape, location, and prior procedures are all factors that affect the complexity of treatment. Additionally, each keloid responds to treatment differently. In general, the smaller the keloid, the lower the cost; however, to achieve the best possible outcome, most keloids require several rounds of treatment. The fees for keloid injections, anesthesia, etc., are separate from the fee for cryotherapy. Dr. Tirgan will provide you with the procedural costs in advance of each visit. We can also provide you with an estimate of your treatment cost if you have one or a few keloids.
Cost of Follow-up Visits?
Once you are an established patient, you will only pay for the cost of ongoing treatment. We typically waive the office visit charge for patients who come in for treatment. We do however charge a fee of $100.00 for follow-ups if no treatment is provided.
On occasions, Dr. Tirgan sees patients on Saturdays. Please visit our calendar for available Saturdays.
We frequently receive emails and phone calls from patients who live far away from New York, asking us for advice. Please keep in mind Dr. Tirgan cannot and does not provide treatment or advice by email. We advise that you review the Keloid Treatment Guidelines that are available on the website of the Keloid Research Foundation.
