Pubic Keloids – Case Study 5 – C-Section Pubic Keloid:
This 36-year-old female presented in January 2019 with a bulky tumoral pubic keloid that had developed after Cesarean Section. The keloid had been previously removed with her 2nd C- Section however it had regrown. She was self-referred to Dr. Tirgan for consideration of cryotherapy.
There are two clear stages in treating large keloids:
- Removal of the Keloid
- Prevention of Recurrence
Removal of the large keloids can be achieved much sooner with surgery. This is a rare occasion that Dr. Tirgan recommends surgery to simply remove the mass of keloid which otherwise will take several months to remove with cryotherapy. This patient underwent surgery and was then treated with intralesional chemotherapy to prevent recurrence. She is currently undergoing treatment; the wound had healed and contains minimal recurrence that is being aggressively treated. The images below show the keloid in January 2019 and January 2020.
