Facial Keloids – Case Study 3 – Multi-Nodular Facial Keloids:
This young female presented with multiple nodular facial keloids that had for at least five years. All these were triggered by acne. She also had a keloid on her chest. She had seen two dermatologists who had both injected her keloids with steroids with minimal improvements. The patient was worried that she was wasting time with the doctors who were not that familiar with keloid disorder. She first came to see me in March 2020, right before the pandemic. The images below show the appearance of her facial keloids at that time.
During her first visit in March 2020, all her keloids were treated with intra-lesional steroids and the larger lesions were also treated with cryotherapy. She returned twice more, once in June when the same treatment was applied to her keloids. The images below depict her face in her recent visit on Sept. 17, 2020. There have been significant improvements in the overall appearance of her keloids.
Her treatment will continue with the goal of making all the remaining keloids flat.
