Neck Keloids – Case Study 5 – large Tumoral Neck Keloid:
This 34-year-old gentleman presented to our office in February 2021 with several keloids that had developed over the years. He first developed a keloid on his chest after a mole was removed from his skin. Ever since he has seen numerous doctors for treatment of various keloids. The neck keloid depicted in the image below was formed after a cyst was surgically removed from his neck in 2016. Over the years, since he was prone to developing keloids, a keloid formed at the site of surgery and gradually grew to the size shown in the image below.
Large tumoral Neck Keloid
This entire keloid, since it had a very narrow base, was treated with cryotherapy in one session. In addition, the smaller keloid that was adjacent to the main keloid was also treated in the same session. The images below depict the appearance of both keloids immediately after the application of cryotherapy.

Patient returned for follow-up in June 2021. The image below shows the dramatic improvement, and near total removal of both keloids after only one course of cryotherapy. The base of both these keloids needs more treatment, with a strategy to prevent them from regrowing.
Achieving such results is quite transformative for the patients, especially in situations whereby a large keloid like the one depicted here is fully visible with significant psychosocial impacts.
