Cost of Consultation
Most insurance companies consider keloids as cosmetic problems and do not pay for the treatment of keloids. As a result, unfortunately, we cannot accept any form of insurance. We will gladly provide you with proper receipts that you can submit to your insurance company for compensation as an out of network service.
Those who may be interested in setting up a telephone consultation may do so by forwarding (1) the Keloid Consultation Request Form as well as (2) photographs of your keloids – taken in good lighting and from different angles – to DrTirgan@gmail.com. Please make sure (a) to provide accurate responses to each question and (b) in your email subject matter line, please indicate “Request for Telephone Consultation”. Please keep in mind that consultation is done to inform you of treatment options. The duration of telephone consultation is limited to 30 minutes. Once we receive your request, we will forward you an invoice which you may pay using a credit card. Your payment for this service will apply to your overall charges if you choose to become a patient of Dr. Tirgan. You will, however, need to come for treatment within 12 months of the date of the consultation, i.e you will not be charged another consultation fee if you come to see us within a year.
We frequently receive emails and phone calls from patients who live far away from New York, asking us for advice. Please keep in mind Dr. Tirgan cannot, and does not provide treatment or advice by email or phone. We advise that you review the Keloid Treatment Guidelines that are available on the website of Keloid Research Foundation
Cost of Follow-up Visits?
Once you are an established patient, you will only pay for the cost of ongoing treatment. We typically waive the office visit charge for patients who come in for treatment. We do however charge a fee of $100 for follow-ups if no treatment is provided.
Cost of Treatment?
The number and type of treatments vary from patient to patient. Unfortunately, there is no way to predict the total cost. Size, shape, location and prior procedures are all factors that affect the complexity of treatment. Additionally, each keloid responds to treatment differently. In general, the smaller the keloid, the lower the cost; however, to achieve the best possible outcome, most keloids require several rounds of treatment. The fees for keloid injections, anesthesia, etc., are separate from the fee for cryotherapy. Dr. Tirgan will provide you with the procedural costs in advance of each visit. We can also provide you with an estimate of your treatment cost if you have one or few keloids.
